Kim Després-Villard 

Starting to paint on canvas in San Francisco at the age of nine, Kim paints now primarily at her Provencal studio in France, producing a very limited number of works on canvas and aluminum panels using primarily acrylics.

Starting with rapid concentrated gestures, she describes as responses to deeper emotions,

she revisits those brush strokes days or weeks later. Upon this initial layer of the painting, she edits in the details, allowing a dynamic image to emerge.
